México: La política de incrementos a los salarios mínimos redujo la brecha de género en 20% (The minimum wage policy increase has reduced the gender gap by 20%.) |
Editorial notes: In many countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific area, the failure to raise salaries in tandem with continuous inflation has become a major social problem. For example, in Japan, wages were reported to have not risen for 30 years. In Hong Kong, China, although the minimum wage has been adjusted upwards recently, it cannot meet the needs of the local residents. And in Thailand, the call for raising minimum wages has triggered a neo-liberalism vs. Keynesianism controversy in the society. |
